JP Motorsport is intensifying its program for 2021 with competing at Circuit Paul Ricard 1.000km of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup. In 2020, the newly founded team already successfully participated in a couple of the events.
The Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team is relying on the experienced duo Christian Klien and Patryk while welcoming another addition to the line-up: FIA Karting World Champion Karol Basz.
The race of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup will be held at Paul Ricard, France, May 28-30. JP Motorsport will enter the 1.000 km long challenge with its Mercedes-AMG GT3. The first outing will be at the test days, February 23-25.
Christian Klien: “We want to enter some GTWC Endurance races to gain more experience for JP Motorsport and our drivers in the top level of GT3 racing there is out there. Endurance racing is even more about team work, it’s about having fast mechanics in the pitstops, switched on engineers who read the race and adopt the strategy. The drivers are pushed to their limits as Endurance races are Sprint races nowadays. I’m very much looking forward to help Patryk and Karol with my experience reaching their goals and ambitions.“
Karol Basz: “I am very happy to join JP Motorsport and I am looking forward to the first race. Moving to GT3 is a natural step after my successes at Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, and thanks to the collaboration with Christian, who has driven for Red Bull Racing and has a lot of success in endurance racing, I should be gaining momentum quickly. There is a lot of time left until the first start, but I am already getting ready and I hope for a successful work with the team.“
